About

Hi I’m Kai (Carolin) Reichert, I’m the founder and maker behind Form + Function.

I build furniture that dovetails form, function and fine craftsmanship. I appreciate the unique character of each piece of wood and work with the material to achieve harmonious designs.

On the other side of the workbench, I thrive on being part of a community of like-minded makers, where I can continually learn and be inspired.

I graduated in 2017 from the Building Crafts College in London with a Fine Furniture Making degree and certificates in Level 2 Bench Joinery and Wood Machining. I was awarded the Livery Company Prize from the Carpenters Company, presented by Princess Anne in June 2017.

I currently live and work in Amsterdam and I’m part of the Vakvrouwen Collective, a group of female furniture makers.

What some of my recent clients have said:

“Working with Carolin and the team was a dream. We knew more or less what we wanted and Carolin collaborated with us, adding great ideas and suggestions to the mix. She presented us with mock-ups to help us visualise and always came to meetings prepared with samples so we could see how the shelves would look in situ. We love them – they add a really stylish element to the room and it’s great to have our books back out again. Thanks to you all for your promptness, courtesy and great communication throughout!”
