In summer 2022, I completed this project for a 1920’s house in Amsterdam Noord. I created a cabinet which celebrates and embraces the existing solid oak staircase. Given that it has a prominent spot in the living room, the design has several features that compliment the space and maximise storage.
The front panel is an abstract, minimalist depiction of a specific mountain range that is close to the client’s heart. The door to the cabinet gives the option to hold cook books and magazines and a wine rack is nestled in beneath the staircase. On the inside of the bespoke front panel there’s space for wine glasses and other kitchen bits.
