This 2 in 1 piece was completed in Spring 2021. It serves as a room divider and wardrobe for a residential entryway. The sliding door is the main feature, dividing the spare bedroom/office and the hallway.
The client wanted something minimalist yet personal so I designed a pattern for the sliding door that represented the family’s story. The main features of the image are inspired by each family member’s date of birth and the moon phase on that particular day. The rest of the image reflects place of importance and personal highlights in their lives.
The challenge was to translate this 2D graphic into a 3D feature in plywood. I decided to work with layers of thin sheets of plywood to create tactility and highlight the couple’s favourite colour, yellow.
